Since 1968, CSA
has sponsored two safety programs, the Jones F. Devlin and
Ship Safety Achievement Awards. The awards publicly recognize
the skills and dedication of the men and women who are responsible
for safe ship operations. The awards, which are open to CSA
members and non-members alike, are presented at the Annual
Safety Awards Luncheon held in June.
In 1975, CSA established
the Rear Admiral Halert C. Shepheard Award which is presented
to an individual in recognition
of a single outstanding contribution to merchant marine
safety; or in recognition of, dedication to, or exceptional
leadership in activities associated with safety over a
period of time. The presentation of this award is usually
coordinated with the ABS Annual Meeting in April in New
York City.
